PA West Soccer mourns the loss of Keith Renner.
Mr. Renner had a love for the game of soccer and was one of its biggest cheerleaders. An Eastern PA native, he grew up playing soccer. He landed in Pittsburgh not long after his service in the US Navy and quickly integrated into the Western PA soccer community as a player and referee before eventually moving into administrative roles. His decades of participating in the game as a player and referee combined with his gregarious nature made him well-known on the fields in the Pittsburgh area.
Mr. Renner unexpectedly passed away on August 1, 2025.
His service to the game included a term as the association’s 8th president from July 2017 to July 2019. Preceding his service as president, he spent eight years as the Vice-President-Adult. He also volunteered with the various USASA tournaments.
As a referee, Mr. Renner worked at regional and national levels. He also assigned referees for a number of youth clubs and adult leagues, as well as a stint as the State Cup assignor.
Funeral arrangements will be forthcoming from Mr. Renner’s family.
