Eight Fixtures Across May 20-21 to Feature Seven All-MLS Affairs;CBS Sports’ Coverage Includes Every Match Streamed Live on Paramount+, Three Games Simulcast Across CBS Sports Network & CBS Sports Golazo Network, and The Golazo Show Wednesday Whip-Around Program

ATLANTA (May 8, 2025) – U.S. Soccer today announced full details surrounding the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 schedule set to take place on Tuesday, May 20, and Wednesday, May 21. Opponents, dates, kickoff times, venue information, and broadcast details for all Round of 16 matchups are below.

Every remaining contest in the 110th edition of U.S. Soccer’s Club Championship through the Final on Oct. 1 will stream live on Paramount+, and three Round of 16 matches are also set to simulcast on CBS Sports Network and CBS Sports Golazo Network. CBS Sports Golazo Network will provide studio coverage across both matchdays, including The Golazo Show, a whip-around program showing every goal from every match on Wednesday, May 21. More details will be announced as the Round of 16 nears.

The Round of 16 is dominated by teams from Division I Major League Soccer, which put a record 15 representatives into the round. Only one survivor remains from the lower divisions, with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC set to carry the torch for the USL Championship (Division II) in a Keystone State showdown at Philadelphia Union. Regional rivalries abound in the eight-game slate, which includes another intra-state affair in Texas (Austin FC/FC Dallas), battles for supremacy in the southeast (D.C. United/Charlotte FC and Orlando City SC/Nashville SC), and niceties being discarded in the Midwest (Minnesota United FC/St. Louis CITY SC).

With the results of the last two days, Riverhounds SC and USL League One’s Union Omaha (Division III) claimed $50,000 awards as the highest placed finishers in their respective divisions, joining NPSL’s El Farolito (Open Division) among the ranks of this year’s prize-winners. Increased investment by U.S. Soccer and partners including Marriott Bonvoy, Michelob Ultra, New York Life, and Nike has resulted in a record $1 million purse for the 2025 competition which more than doubles last year’s total figure – and includes $600,000 for this year’s champion.

The Round of 16 matchups are an extension of the draw that took place in advance of the Round of 32, which placed teams into four-team groups and established a priority hosting order for the Round of 16. Groups were formed to avoid league schedule conflicts and allow two rest days between league and Cup matches. If three or more teams/pairings were from the same proximity, pairings for these teams were made by random selection. Any teams who are precluded from playing each other until the Final were not paired.

About the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

Now in its 110th edition, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup has crowned U.S. Soccer’s national champion since 1914. The history-filled tournament is conducted on a single-game-knockout basis and is open to professional and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. In 1999, the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the U.S. was renamed to honor American soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.

The 2025 U.S. Open Cup winner will earn a berth in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup and have its name engraved on the Dewar Challenge Trophy – one of the oldest nationally contested trophies in American team sports – now on permanent display at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Frisco, Texas. The 2025 tournament features a total purse worth $1 million that includes a $600,000 award for the champion.

Los Angeles Football Club of MLS is the defending Champion. The 109th edition of the tournament concluded on September 25, 2024, with LAFC beating four-time Champions Sporting Kansas City 3-1 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles to become Open Cup Champions for the first time.
