Presidents Cup Crowns Seven More Champs
With rain, sleet, and snow on a blustery day seven more teams punched their tickets to the East Region Presidents Cup this June. The 14 Girls, 16 Boys and Girls, 17 Boys and Girls, 18 Boys, and 19 Boys age groups all concluded competition with their finals on April 3.
BVB International Academy edged Hotspurs Blue 1-0 to earn the 14 Girls Presidents Cup title.
In the 16 Boys it was a meeting of Beadling North and Beadling South. Beadling South jumped out to a 2-0 lead with North pulling within one in the second half but unable to find the equalizer.
The 16 Girls final ended regulation and overtime with SCS United and Century V Red tied at 0-0. SCS United claimed the gold medals in kicks from the mark that took six shooters to determine the winner.
FC Pittsburgh Gold used a 4-1 win over FC 814 to claim the 17 Boys top spot.
Victory claimed the top spot in the 17 Girls by going 3-0-0. The title came down to a final group game between two undefeated teams with Victory edging Century V Red 1-0.
The BVB International Academy 18 Boys knocked off Bethel Park 5-1 to earn gold.
In the 19 Girls group, Centre Union defeated Beadling East and Century V Red to post a perfect record and grab the title.
