USMNT Square Off With Canada in Gold Cup Quarterfinal

The United States Men’s National Team will square off against northern neighbor Canada in the Gold Cup quarterfinals at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati on Sunday, July 9, at 8 PM.

The United States and Canada are no strangers to each other, meeting and facing each other in the 2007 Gold Cup quarterfinals, resulting in a 2-1 U.S. victory.

Canada have struggled against the U.S. in previous competitions with 0 wins in 6 matches against the red, white, and blue and look to change the tides to advance to the Gold Cup semifinals and get their first victory over the United States in Gold Cup competition.

The United States Men’s National Team have showed offensive firepower in the 2023 Gold Cup, winning back-to-back 6-0 matches against Trinidad and Tobago and Saint Kitts and Nevis. Forward Jesus Ferreira posted consecutive hat-tricks in the last two matches for the U.S. and became the first player to score a hat trick in two Gold Cup games during the same tournament, as well as the first U.S. player to score hat tricks in consecutive games.

Canada head into the quarterfinals with consecutive draws against Guadalupe and Guatemala, but throttled Cuba 4-2 to claim a spot against the United States in the Gold Cup quarterfinals. The United States lead the all-time record against Canada with 18 wins, 12 draws, and 11 losses and look to continue their Gold Cup streak against the red and white to seven games unbeaten in the competition.
