USMNT Set to Square Off Against Panama in Gold Cup Semi-Finals

USPanamaMW

It took 88 minutes for the United States to net their first goal of the match against Canada in the Gold cup quarterfinals, which lead to extra time and a wild penalty shootout victory behind the heroics and brilliant saves of United States goalkeeper Matt Turner in the Gold Cup Quarterfinals. The United States Men’s National team will have a tough task ahead of them in facing opponent Panama on Wednesday. Los Canaleros have looked threatening in Gold Cup competition thus far, winning two matches against Costa Rica and Martinique, while drawing once in the group stage to El Salvador. Panama throttled Qatar 4-0 in the quarterfinal stage of the Gold Cup and look to claim their seventh victory over the red, white, and blue in the semi-finals Wednesday evening.

The USMNT must start the game quickly on the right foot in order to maintain the pressure on Panama. If the U.S. can unlock the Panamanian central midfield and maintain possession, the United States attack should flourish against a back line that has allowed a goal within three of the last four matches of Gold Cup play.
