Riverhounds Aim For First Win Over F.C. Cincinnati in U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals

QF

After defeating the Columbus Crew 1-0 in front of a record setting crowd at Highmark Stadium in the Round of 16 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds hit the road and look to defeat their third consecutive MLS opponent within the U.S. Open Cup competition.

Lead by Pittsburgh native Robbie Mertz through ball pass to Albert Dikwa finishing the lone goal of the match against the Crew, the Hounds have a tough task ahead against a familiar foe.

FC Cincinnati hold a 6-0-4 all-time record over the Hounds and are coming off of a thrilling penalty shootout win over New York Red Bulls in the Round of 16 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Holding a 12-1-4 MLS Eastern Conference record, Cincinnati sits atop of the conference with a perfect 9-0 home record and the best record in the entire league.

With the Riverhounds having success in the earlier rounds of the tournament against New England and played with patience against the Crew, will it be enough to pull off a third consecutive Cupset against strong MLS opposition?

Catch the match at 7:00 PM on the B/R YouTube Channel or B/R App.
