The 2020 PA West Soccer Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday, August 5. Due to Covid-19 and the need to physical distance, the meeting was conducted virtually for the first time.
The PA West Soccer State Council, representatives from the youth clubs and adult leagues, gather annually to conduct the business of the association that includes approving the budget for the new fiscal year, electing officers, considering proposed amendments to the association governance, and any other business to come before the State Council.
The meeting opened with a presentation on the PA West Soccer esports league. Shawn Smith, Product Director of GYO Sports, showed the attendees the structure and features of the new league, as well as explaining the most important element of providing a safe online space for the competition. Mr. Smith also explained how the clubs could build their own esports programming within the PA West Soccer framework.
The 2019-20 financials were reviewed by Treasurer Tom Beecher before he presented the proposed 2020-21 Budget. Mr. Beecher noted the challenges of the latter portion of the 2019-20 fiscal year and the expected needs for the upcoming year. The proposed budget was approved unanimously.
President Thilo Boensch announced the six proposed amendments to the governance had been withdrawn by the proposers.
The items requiring votes concluded when the State Council re-elected Chris Grine as the VP-Youth. Mr. Grine thanked everyone for their support and discussed continuing his vision for growing the game.
