PA West Soccer
is proud to present its NEW Youth Referee Association. This newly
formed
organization has been create with the help of several youth referees,
as well as SYRA Rodger Shoup and SRA John Matter. The association
was officially approved by the State Referee Committee at its November
meeting and as the organization continues to develop, additional information
will be posted here on the web site. If you have any questions, please
feel free to contact any of the members of the Youth Referee Association
Board of Directors and we’ll answer them as soon as we can.
Oh, and don’t forget to check out our article in the January
edition of the Touchline.
Mission: To provide
all PA West Soccer youth referees with an association to assist in their
development and education, so that they can make the necessary connections
to advance their careers.
How do I join and how much does it cost?
First, there is no cost to join the Youth Referee Association. That's right,
it's ABSOLUTELY FREE!!! Second, any PA West Soccer referee under the age of
21 is automatically registered as a member.
How can I start receiving information from the YRA?
All we need from you is an email address and you'll begin receiving
our monthly updates, as well as information about upcoming events before they're
posted on the web.
UPCOMING EVENTS As more definite plans are finalized, dates, times and locations will be posted,
but for now, here are a couple of ideas.
- On-field observations with real assessors
- 'Mini-clinics' on professionalism,
dealing with coaches and giving cards
- Bus trips to Columbus Crew and DC United games to meet MLS referees.
If you have a suggestion, send one of the members of the Board of Directors
an email and we'll take it under consideration.
