New Asst DOC Joins Staff

PA West Soccer welcomes a new member to its Coaching Education and Player Development staff.  Paulo Neto assumes the role of Assistant Technical Director.

PA West Soccer Director of Coaching Terry Eguaoje said of Neto, ”He’s a great addition to our coaching staff.  He enables us to offer much better service to our members as we add to our training and education programs for both coaches and players.”

Neto boasts over 15 years coaching experience at various levels of the game as well as a strong academic background. Most recently, he was head men’s coach at Saint Francis University PA (NCAA-I), a position he previously held in three other collegiate institutions. Neto also has extensive experience with ODP serving over 13 years combined with Kentucky and regional coach in Regions I and II. In addition to his collegiate and ODP experience, he manned the helm of semi-professional teams, with stints at Baton Rouge Capitals-PDL (2009), Gulf Coast Texans-NPSL (2013), and Knoxville Force-NPSL (2014-2015).

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be a part of this staff,” said Neto of his new position. “I’m absolutely passionate about this game, and I believe to have had a positive influence in the lives of the players I coached. This position with PA West allows me the great opportunity to exponentially influence thousands of other lives through educating coaches around the state and help them to develop future generations of great soccer players. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be here at this time of my life.

Neto hails from Sorocaba, Brazil, and is a 2003 graduate of Union College (Kentucky) with triple majors in Business Administration, Physical Education, and Sports Management. He holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Lincoln Memorial University in May of 2008.

Collegiately, Neto was a four-year starter at Union College (NAIA) earning All-Conference honors each season including Conference Player of the Year his Senior year. His various other achievements include being named All-Region in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and All-America in the same years. He's the all-time leading scorer at Union with 69 goals and 50 assists. Professionally, Neto was part of the Cincinnati Kings squad (USL) in 2005 before taking over his first head coaching position. Neto holds a Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) “A” License, a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) "A" License, and a USSF National Youth License.
